Welcome to Wisconsin Association of FFA

Established in 1929, the Wisconsin Association of FFA is an association of the National FFA Organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Wisconsin has 255 FFA chapters statewide and over 19,000 members.

The FFA operates on local, state and national levels. Student members belong to chapters organized at the local school district. In order for a school district to charter and maintain an FFA chapter, there must be a certified licensed agricultural educator hired by the school district who then also serves as the chapter advisor.

FFA members are part of a total program in agricultural education, consisting of classroom instruction in agriculture, supervised agricultural experiences where students gain career skills and on the job training and leadership development through the FFA organization.

State Fair Chaperones Needed for Band and Chorus
I have been notified that State Fair has changed their rules as far as chaperones with students.....We now need 2 chaperones for every 10 students. I am in need of 17 chaperones for band and chorus August 7-10. Please let me know if you or your alumni or parents are interested in chaperoning. We really need more volunteers this year please!!!

Thank You Notes Required Before Receiving Cash Awards
Again this year at the State FFA Convention, we are requiring that students submit their sponsor thank you letters before they can receive their cash award at convention. To help in this process, sample thank you letters and the contact information for sponsors is already posted on the Wisconsin FFA Convention Website. Have your students write their thank yous and bring them along to convention....this can really help move things along for you and your members.

Official Convention Business Items and State FFA Convention Delegates
Information about the State FFA Convention Business Session is online. The Official FFA Convention Business items are posted online at http://www.wisconsinffa.org/events/. You will find the proposals and budget. Make sure to read through the materials so delegates are prepared and informed.

Every chapter is allowed two voting delegates at the State FFA Convention Business Session on Tuesday morning, June 10. ALL delegates are invited to the training workshop at 8:45 a.m. in Hall D. Delegate committee meetings are at 9:15 a.m. Orientation for the delegates and advisors begins at 9:45 a.m. The actual business session begins at 10:00 a.m.

Chapter T-Shirts Needed for Pre-Session
If your FFA chapter has some extra chapter t-shirts that you could donate to the State FFA Convention, we plan to give them out during several of the Pre-Session activities during the State FFA Convention. Bring your shirts to convention and we will have box for drop off at the convention registration table.

FFA Flags Needed for the Convention Opening Session
As always we love to begin the State FFA Convention with the massing of the FFA flags. If your chapter could provide an FFA flag and stand and an FFA member who would like to carry that flag, please register on the Online Registration System to let us know you will have a flag and a delegate to participate in the Opening Session . You can just bring your flag to the registration table on Tuesday morning, June 10 and then the students will practice at around 10:30 - 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday morning before the Opening Session.

FFA Scrapbook Competition
Don't forget about the Wisconsin FFA Scrapbook Competition. REMEMBER TO REVIEW THE RULES AND GUIDELINES ON THE WISCONSIN FFA WEBSITE. Bring your scrapbook to the State FFA Convention News Room to check it in for competition

State Winning Proficiency Award Applications Need to Be Returned at the State Convention
If your student is a state winner in a proficiency area, all state winning applications must be returned to Terry Bernick in the News Room at the State FFA Convention. This is important that your student turns in their revised applications as we will need to send those to National FFA for further competition. Also the student must turn in their application for national competition to receive their award check.

Don't forget also that the state winning proficiency members will have the opportunity for practice interview at State FFA Convention in the event they may be selected as a National FFA finalist. Make sure to review the schedule...it is posted on the Wisconsin FFA website under convention planning materials.

Updated National Chapter Award Applications
For those chapters receiving gold and your application is moving on to National Competition. Please note we would like you to turn in your updated applications at the State FFA Convention. You can turn them in at the News Room.

State FFA Officer Reimbursement for Mileage to FFA Banquets and Events
If you invite the State FFA Officer(s) to your school for additional presentations, workshops, banquets, alumni events and other special events or meetings, please note that it is the responsibility of the host to pay for the related expenses for that event. This would include mileage, meals, even materials that the state officer may have purchased to use in a workshop they present.

Currently the state FFA officers receive 41 cents per mile for travel. The State Association pays for a state officer to visit your chapter once as an "official" chapter visit. Chapters are responsible for additional visits and activities

Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. State FFA Officers do many of the "extra" things for their chapters on a voluntary basis as their schedules permit and we do not want this to become a financial burden on them. The State Association does not require they do all these "extra" activities, but State Officers are excited and very willing to serve your chapters. If you officially invite state officers to the events mentioned above, we do need your assistance to reimburse the officers for their expenses as these "extra" activities are not in the FFA Association budget and are voluntary for the officers to attend. Especially with the high gas prices, reimbursement is very important to these young people.
