Busy Weeks!
Aug. 29, 2010

FINAL CREAM PUFF COUNT=9
I COULDN’T QUITE MAKE IT TO 10.
THE NUMBER 9 IS TOO COOL TO MOVE ONTO 10.
I JUST LOVE SECTION 9!

Just last week I was at Jag Lake with my fellow team members. At the beautiful FFA Camp my team members and I were able to accomplish quite a few items on the To Do List!

While at Jag Lake, we traveled to the Paulding Light! The Paulding Light is located about 45 minutes from Jag Lake just in the UP. Legend has it that a man was killed by a train a long, long time ago when there were still tracks on the long trail. In the evening, you can see two lights flashing-one red and one white. The red light symbolizes the man's lantern as he walked the train tracks at night. The white light symbolizes the train light.

A few of my team mates and I were brave enough to walk down the trail where the train tracks used to be. After crossing an active flowing stream with a chance of being attacked by another beaver, we were not able to find where these lights were coming from.

Later, I looked on the internet to find out some more information. Ripley's Believe it or Not has offered 100,000 dollars to anyone who can explain these lights. The activity at the Paulding Light has yet to be explained!

This week has also been filled with many memories from the Manitowoc County Fair! I was able to watch the Annual Futurity after carrying in the American Flag representing the Wisconsin Association!

This next week I will be working on Sectional Leadership Workshop Details, Chapter Visits, and going shopping for all the supplies I need!

Squirrel Attack
Aug. 13, 2010

Still here at WI State Fair, I have made it my goal to eat a total of 10 cream puffs by the end of my entire 11 days that I have been here! So far the OFFICIAL CREAM PUFF COUNT IS 7! Make sure you stay posted to see if I make my goal!

This past couple days, I met a few cool FFA members from Big Foot and Marshfield FFA! I appreciate everyone’s hard work in the Discovery Barnyard!

I was also able to meet up with a few of my friends I met through FFA when I was in high school: Vickie, Scott, Rikki, Ted and Travis!

OOOOOH! I almost forgot to tell you about my once in a lifetime experience! I WAS ATTACKED BY A SQUIRREL!!!!!! I was sitting eating a cream puff with Tiffany Nohl (A FFA Friend and The Current 2010 Manitowoc County Fairest of the Fair) at Fairest of the Fair Reunion Day, and all of the sudden a furry thing was in my face, I didn’t know what it was at first, I thought something may have fell from the tree above me. Everyone around me started to scream, and I didn’t know why. After there wasn’t a squirrel on me anymore, I left the attack seen with a scratched dress, a fur infested face, and a dirty banner from the bathroom accident the squirrel had left on my 2009 Fairest Banner.

Anyways, I cannot believe we only have 2 days left! Keep posted to see if I made my goal of 10 cream puffs!

Wisconsin State Fair
Aug. 08, 2010

I am here at the Wisconsin State Fair through August 5-15. This week, I have been in the Discovery Barn answering question fair goers may have about the animals and racing the Veggie 500!

In the Discovery Barn, I had the most fun time working with West De Pere, Suring, and Lodi FFA Chapter. The Veggie Races have been super fast on our race track in the Ag. Oasis Tent.

As for fair food, I have had 3 cream puffs so far! I will keep you updated with the count!

I hope some of you have the chance to come and visit here at the Wisconsin State Fair!

Farm Technology Days!
Jul. 26, 2010

Farm Technology Days were held in Pierce County this year! I had the most amazing time with my team and host families!

During the day I enjoyed giving tours of the Peterson Family Dairy Farm and walking tent city with the industry’s most advanced vendors!

In the evening, I stayed at the most amazing host family’s home: Kelly Matzek! It was so exciting to see how caring she is!

The past week and a half have been so much fun! I can't wait to tell you about the team's travel's to the Wisconsin State Fair! Stay posted!

First Pitch of the Twins Game!
Jul. 26, 2010

Throughout this busy week, I also went to a Twins game as well! On Sunday the 18th of July, I attended the Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox and threw the first pitch of the game!

After the first pitch, I enjoyed the game with Samantha Becker and Amy Kringle. All three of us sang “Take me out to the ball game” for the seventh inning stretch on the big jumbo screen!

Wrightstown Golf Outing!
Jul. 26, 2010

This past week and half have gone so fast that I haven’t been able to blog on my normal schedule! I am so excited to finally give an update! I am going to post three separate blogs on the same day, so I can add more pictures for everyone to see!

On the 14th of July, I went to the Wrightstown golf outing Fundraiser with Ethan Giebel and Sam Tauchen. Educators, and anyone else interested in the agriculture industry was able to have fun golfing and support the Wisconsin FFA Foundation! The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful day!

Back from Springfield, Illinois!
Jul. 11, 2010

This past week I was in Springfield, Illinois for the NLCSO (National Leadership Conference for State Officers). I was able to spend five days with four other Association Officers: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri. Towards the end of the week I started to gain a Kentucky accent.

Our fun filled learning workshop sessions were led by National FFA Eastern Region Vice President Alex Henry and Southern Region Vice President Chelsea Doss. The theme of the week was the “High Impact Workout”. The team spent many hours bonding and continuing our progress planning SLW’s (Sectional Leadership Workshop) and FIRE (Foundations in Reaching Excellence) Conferences. Wednesday I will be at the Wrightstown Golf Outing!

The Official Theme!
Jul. 02, 2010

This past week I was in Madison for the WAAE (Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators) Conference. Here, the team was able to meet the amazing agricultural educators and FFA advisors throughout the state, decided ways to make the Sectional Leadership Workshop and FIRE Conference outstanding, and announced our theme for the year: POWERED BY POTENTIAL.
The team had a fun time Celebrating Noah’s Birthday by Mini golfing and eating at Red Robins! This next week we will be headed to Springfield, Illinois for NLCSO (National Leadership Conference for State Officers)

Back from BLAST Off
Jun. 26, 2010

On Thursday evening, we just got back from BLAST Off (Building Leaders and Strong Teams of Officers) in Spencer, Wisconsin. We learned about each of the officers to help us build a stronger team, constructive criticism on presentation skills, organization, and setting goals.

We received a few gifts: Our new FFA Jackets, and a Franklin Covey. When I held my association jacket in my hand, I couldn’t believe it, in high school, I never thought I would be wearing a jacket with association on the back. Our Franklin Covey will help us keep dates straight of where we need to be.

I have also added a file to the “What’s New” section on the upper right of my blog. It is “Getting to Know Your Officer”. Each of the officers will be adding a file like this, to let you know a few fun facts about our backgrounds.

Friday morning, my team members and I came together to attend the United States Department of Justice Dairy Industry Workshop. We learned a lot about the concerns of Dairy Farmers across America and help others out by picking up question cards during the conference. I was able to meet Governor Doyle, Senator Feingold, Senator Kohl, and the Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. This next week, the team is headed to the WAAE (Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators) Conference.
