Half-Time!!!!!!!!!
Jan. 07, 2012

I can't believe that this two day event is already over! Half-Time 2012 was an absolute success! I had so much fun seeing so many FFA members who were all excited to attend this great event.

On Friday, chapters started registering for the conference and the night was kicked off with our opening skit. Our theme this year was Destination: Unknown. As FFA members, our destination isn't always clear, but if we are open to new experiences, our destination will be something great. After our opening skit, members partook in four workshops focused on personal growth. After the workshops, we had a very fun dance followed by some very inspiring reflections.

The following morning, we all woke up bright and early for some breakfast and an eye-opener. It was a great way to start the morning. After the morning session, we had two rounds of workshops followed by a presentation by two past state officers. Then we had two more workshops. Lunch followed and we heard inspiring words from our State President, Ethan Giebel. It was a great way to end the day.

I hope everybody who attended had a blast!

Until next time,

Isaac

Destination: Unknown. Our theme this year is all about traveling the world. We may only be in Stevens Point, but in our eight workshops, you will see many new places. Not only will we see new places, we will also learn something at the same time while having a blast.

Hope to see you all there,

Isaac

Final Five!
Nov. 27, 2011

As November comes to a close, so does my time traveling the great Section 1! I visited five great schools during my last week of chapter visits. Look were I've been!

Bruce: On Monday, I visited the Bruce FFA. I had a really great time presenting to all of the classes down in the Ag Room. I was also very impressed that the Bruce FFA Officer Team were all in Official Dress for the whole day! Way to go guys! I really enjoyed getting to spend the day with everybody. Thank you for making me feel right at home!

Shell Lake: This visit marked the last of my visits with the word "Lake" in the name of the school! I enjoyed my time in Shell Lake a lot. I really liked presenting to the middle school classes. Sure they were a handful at times, but they were so energetic early in the morning! Thank you to Mrs. Bos and the officer team for the great lunch! I wish you all the best.

Ashland: After my Shell Lake visit, I headed up north to Ashland the night before my visit. A huge thank you to the Ashland FFA for putting me up in a very nice motel for the night. I slept very well after a great meal of Lake Superior Whitefish! The next morning I headed over to the school and set up for a great day of visits. Thank you to all of the classes for stepping out of your comfort zone! Thank you so much to the officer team and Ms. Naas for the great lunch, company, and tour of the agricultural classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my time!

Saint Croix Falls: Early the next morning, I made the "voyage" of thirteen miles to Saint Croix Falls High School and met with the entire SCFHS FFA! I really enjoyed presenting to such a big group of people! My highlight definitely was the "Pulse" game. It was a little rocky to begin with, but once everybody focused, you all were pros! I wish you the best for the year!

Frederic: Thank you so much for the chance to meet with you all! I gained some valuable insight to your program and hope I can be of assistance this year! Let me know if you need anything!

That wraps up my chapter visits! This fall flew by!

212 and 360
Nov. 16, 2011

This past weekend, the conference 212 and 360 took place in Stevens Point. This conference is put on by National FFA, so the Wisconsin State Officers were their helping hands for the weekend. We had over 600 participants at this conference. I really enjoyed reconnecting with members I had met earlier in the year. I also enjoyed taking pictures of the conference. I will have those up on the Wisconsin Association of FFA facebook page soon! Keep an eye out for them!

Cameron and Flambeau Visits
Nov. 16, 2011

I had a short week last week but I did visit two amazing schools: Cameron and Flambeau.

Cameron: I had a lot of fun visiting Cameron. They have a great agricultural teacher Mr. Ladd. I had to opportunity to present to many diverse classes. The highlight of my day was having pizza with the officer team! You guys are awesome and I wish you the best for the rest of the year.

Flambeau: When I drove up to Flambeau, I was surprised (in a good way) at the school! It's shaped like a barn! I had a great day in Flambeau and really enjoyed talking to Ms. Raether. I really loved presenting to all of the classes as well. The highlight was presenting to the middle school class. They were so eager to learn! I had a great day.

I only have five more chapter visits left! Time sure has flown by!

UW-RF Parli Pro Workshop
Nov. 08, 2011

Hello everyone,

On Monday, November 8th, the University of Wisconsin--River Falls Agricultural Education Society hosted a parliamentary procedure workshop for any chapters interested in finding out more about parli pro. I had a lot of fun meeting and chatting with the members from around the area. I also sat in on one of the sessions and helped out a little bit. When I was in high school, the parli pro contest was always my favorite speaking contest. Some of my best FFA memories go back to our parli pro team.

I hope a lot of you learned more about parliamentary procedure. Sure, it can a little overwhelming at first, but once you begin to understand what it all means, it can be a great time!

Until next time,

Isaac

Another Fab Five Chapter Visits
Nov. 08, 2011

What another amazing week! I had to opportunity to visit five more schools and chapter last week! Check out where I've been!

Cumberland: What a great chapter! I was very impressed with all of the enthusiasm they had. It was Halloween this day, so I decided to dress up...as an FFA member! I had a lot of fun presenting to all of the classes during the day and meeting many of the school officials. I really enjoyed having lunch with the officer team! It was a lot of fun and included many laughs. Cumberland is also blessed with everybody having MacBooks! I am very jealous.

Lake Holcombe: I had a very nice time at Lake Holcombe visiting for half the day. I had to opportunity to present to two different classes. I was very fun to get to know each class because they were both very different but equally fun to present to. I wish them the best for the year!

Cornell: On Wednesday, I headed down to Cornell for another half day visit! I was very excited because I was going to present to middle school members who had attended FIRE Conference. They were very excited to learn more about the FFA and I really appreciated all of their questions! I also enjoyed chatting with the officer team about the year and I hope your new points systems works well for you!

New Auburn: First thing I must say is that I was very impressed with their school! With a small student body, New Auburn has a very nice school. I was also very impressed with all the FFA does around the school with the indoor plants, outdoor plants, and the school forest. I had a blast presenting to all of the classes and I even had the opportunity to meet with some foreign exchange students who were very interested in agriculture! Thank you also for all of the gifts for the State Officers.

Luck: I'm in Luck! Literally. I had the pleasure of venturing up to Luck for a chapter visit last week. I had a really fun time presenting to all of the classes down in the FFA room. I wish the Quiz Bowl Team the best of luck and I would also like to encourage the middle schoolers to join the FFA! I had a lot of fun and it was a great way to wrap up the week!

Up next is the UW-RF Parliamentary Procedure Contest and two chapter visits to Cameron and Flambeau!

Best regards,

Isaac

Five Fantastic Visits
Nov. 01, 2011

What a fantastic week of chapter visits! Here is where I've been!

Spooner: After the whirlwind on National Convention, I had my Spooner chapter visit the Monday after convention. It was so great to see so many FFA members and officers pumped up from the previous week! My highlight of the visit was having lunch with the members! You guys made me laugh so much! Thanks for a great day. And remember, wear those bricks on your feet when its windy!

Bloomer: This school is blessed with two great Advisors and this school is also affiliated, meaning that all Agricultural Education students are FFA members! I had a great day presenting to classes of all ages.

Prairie Farm: This was a great visit as well! Up until this point, I hadn't presented to smaller class sizes, but I loved it! I really enjoyed presenting all day and would do it all over again. My highlight was seeing some of the same students throughout the day. I got to know them pretty well! Thank you everyone.

Unity: This was another great day full of presenting. Mrs. Alling has a great program in Unity and is very passionate about agriculture. I really liked presenting to so many classes because I had to opportunity to meet so many people. I also enjoyed seeing some people I have shown sheep with over the years.

Northwestern: This was the perfect way to end the week. I had never been to Northwestern before. I was very impressed with the new school and football stadium. This school really is a gem (even though it is kind of in the middle of nowhere!). I enjoyed meeting Mrs. McGrath! Northwestern is blessed to have her! I also really loved having lunch with the officer team. You ladies are so funny! And thank you for the tour of the school. I had a lot of fun.

Up next, I will be visiting Cumberland, Lake Holcombe, Cornell, New Auburn, and Luck!

Regards,

Isaac

National Convention
Oct. 24, 2011

The theme this year at National Convention was "I Believe." This theme rung throughout the session halls and all throughout Indianapolis. Over 50,000 students from every corner of the country and all difference backgrounds gathered in Indianapolis for the largest student run convention!

National FFA Convention absolutely flew by! I had the unique opportunity to partake in the delegate process along with the rest of the Wisconsin State FFA Officer Team and four National Delegates. We were assigned to a committee and discussed on important issues facing the National FFA Organization. Monday through Wednesday each of played apart on one of six special committees discussing the issues of Middle School Opportunities, the Delegate Process, Floriculture CDE, the Leadership Model, and an Agricultural Education Experience for high school students, and Collegiate FFA opportunities.

Thursday was the official opening of convention with a high energy convention session! National Convention isn't just about attending sessions, but you cannot miss the Career Show, the FFA Mall, workshops, and numerous other events.

The largest honor I had at National Convention was earning my American FFA Degree. Along with Stacey and Ethan (and 147 other FFA members from Wisconsin), we all received our American Degree. I was number 3095 to go on stage, so after a little bit of a wait, my time finally came!

A huge congratulations goes out to Keith Bollinger who took the prize as he received Star in Agri-Science. He had an amazing project including watershed restoration and conservation.

Lastly, congratulations to Alicia Hodnik for earning National FFA Office! You will do great in the coming year.

Until next time,

Isaac

I Believe
Oct. 14, 2011

In just over two day, I (and 50,000 of my closest friends) will be heading down to National Convention! This is by far the most exciting time of the year! Where else can you see thousands of blue and gold jackets?

Down at National Convention, I will be serving as a National Delegate and decide upon important issues to the FFA. It should be a fun and new experience. Also, I will be receiving my American Degree!

Best of luck to everybody participating and competing down at National Convention! And take lots of pictures!

Clayton Chapter Visit
Oct. 14, 2011

On Thursday, October 13th, I visited Clayton for their chapter visit. Even though Clayton is a smaller school, they have a very strong Agricultural Education program and a great teacher, Ms. Schuebel. I had a really fun day and I presented from an Ag Woods class to 6th Grade Science.

On Thursday, I had a lot of football players in my class and they were one game away from becoming conference champions! I hope they did well.

My next adventure is National Convention!

Isaac

Section 1 Chapter Visits
Oct. 12, 2011

Over the past week in a half, I have had the amazing opportunity to visit some amazing chapters in Section 1. On Monday, October 3rd I visited Turtle Lake. Their chapter is great and has high energy! It was great to visit a school that I've driven past numerous times but never had the chance to go in.

On Friday, October 7th, I visited Rice Lake. I had a great time presenting to many classes and visiting with the officer team. See you down at Nationals!

On Monday, October 10th, I headed west to visit Osceola. Mr. Jakobciak and his FFA do some amazing things. The young leaders at this school are great and dedicated to the FFA. The highlight of my day was sitting with a few of the officers at lunch discussing everything from haymow jumping to future plans and college.

On Tuesday, October 11th, I visited Clear Lake. Mr. Wyss teaching some great subjects and has some really great students in his classes. These classes are high energy and excited to be a part of Agriculture Education. I will see some of you down at National Convention! I even met a distant relative during class!

On Wednesday, October 12th, I visit my home chapter of Amery. The Ag Room feels like a second home to me because of all the hours I've spent in that room. It was great to see so many familiar faces! Because I graduated in 2009, the students who were freshman are now seniors! Crazy!

This wraps up my last adventures for the previous week! Keep watching for future posts!

Isaac
