Fueling Your Chapter for Success

Is your chapter looking to drive itself to further success? Be sure to stop by the G.A.S. Station to fuel up. This Guide to the Activities of the State was designed to help chapters share ideas for activities in four main areas, membership recruitment, fundraising, community service and promotional ideas. The following are examples or ideas which your chapter can utilize to take itself to the next level.

Membership Recruitment:

Professional and Semi-pro Games Submitted By: Mr. Schroeder
Description: We take a trip to a Timber Rattlers game and invite all incoming freshman along with current and past FFA members.

Packer Tailgate Party Submitted By: Sevastopol
Description: Sunday afternoon game. Start with hotdogs and brats. Give them tickets for joining and paying dues as well as attending events from September 1st to game day. Then give away a big screen TV and other door prizes.
Special supplies: food for game and door prizes

Alumni Sponsored Dues Submitted By: Kim Pruss, Ripon

Middle School Fliers Submitted By: Columbus
Description: Go to middle school one day at lunch with information and fliers

Floats on Friday Submitted By: Tim Heeg, Marshfield FFA
Description: Offered on a Friday late in September, where we prepared and serve root beer floats to everybody that has their dues paid by that date.
Special supplies: Root beer, ice cream and other float supplies

Pancake Feed Submitted By: Tim Heeg, Marshfield FFA
Description: We hold a pancake feed for students enrolled in Ag classes, early in the school year. We also invite school teachers and staff. We feed them pancakes, sausages, cheese curds and milk. It helps promote membership and helps with PR with teachers. It’s also helpful in preparing our members to make pancakes and sausages for our June Dairy Breakfast.

Big Buck Win a T.V. Contest Submitted By: Matt Reinders, Loyal FFA
Description: Purchase a TV for about $200 and all they have to do is sign up on a sheet to enter. No entry fee, but they have to be an FFA member. Biggest rack with the Boon and Crockett system wins the TV.
Special supplies: Scoring system for the antler rack. A TV to give away

Floating on the Grant River
Description: Canoe trip on the Grant River during summer activities

Description: Two hours of fun, leadership stations and food. High school officers, state officers and high school advisors put on the program

Special supplies: The students tap trees, boil down the sap and sell it under the FFAs title. It is a good way for the students to learn work tactics and leadership qualities

Best Seat in the House
Description: Sell tickets for sofa/recliner at Basketball game. They get to invite a friend and get pizza at half-time.

Christmas in February Submitted By: Nina Fields, Lancaster FFA
Description: During National FFA Week, we sponsor a food drive for everyone in our school. For every food item that people bring in they get to put their name into a container. At the end of the week FFA Advisors and Officers will draw names for the amount of prizes that we have. The people that are picked, get to pick their prize in order.
Special supplies: Door prizes, container for names, and plenty of scrap paper!!

Recycling Projects and collections Submitted By: Sandy Piechowski Cordes
Description: -Recycle Cell phones (for cash, donate to civic organizations)

-Recycle paper at school-Collect pop tabs (Ronald McDonald House)

-Collect white pants (for dairy exhibitors)

Donate Plants to State Park Submitted By: West DePere FFA
Description: Excess bedding plants are given to the Heritage Hill State Park. Students plant the round-about and care for it during the spring and fall. Students also maintain and improve the landscape around the school campus. Students also grow the plants for the school

Farm Service Day Submitted By: borrowed from Ag and Food Science Academy
Description: Chapter members volunteer at local farms. Students perform various chores to help farmers finish projects. Students gain a “hands on” farm experience.

Project X-mas Submitted By: Thorp FFA
Description: Work with businesses to raise money by selling presents that
members have made. Use money for local needy


Tree Sorting for Land Conservation Committee Submitted By: Liz Dahlke, Montello

Day on the Farm Submitted By: Linda Burton, Laconia FFA
Description: Host over 600 elementary students grades 2nd, 3rd and 4th from local schools visit a local dairy farm. It’s a 2 day event that Laconia FFA organizes.

Cancer Walk Submitted By: Tri-County
Description: We do the “Flamingo Flocking” as a fundraiser for our cancer walk. It is advertised in the paper prior to the event and it helps involve the entire community.

Rural Youth Safety Day Submitted By: Tri-County
Description: The FFA partners with others to hold a rural safety day at the Hancock UW Research Station (for 4th graders from 10 area schools). It has allowed us to be very visible in the community.

Holiday Cheer Submitted By: Fort Atkinson FFA
Description: Students collect small items and letters. These are fixed and shipped to servicemen overseas. Also sent to individuals if we know addresses.

CWD Sample Collection Submitted By: Steve Stoppelmoor
Description: We collected Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) samples for the DNR. The FFA members were eager to help because so many of our members are hunters. These members set up stations to obtain samples and were able to make it fun. It was very beneficial to our community and the students felt like they did something very important
